Australia’s premier tertiary education provider for the film and television industries, the national film school, the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) engaged Main Course to develop specialised training for their Masters course in Apple Immersive Video (AIV) and Apple Spatial Audio Format (ASAF).
This world first program was designed to introduce the post-grad students to the structure and usage of this new format and its creative potential at an international professional level.

Ben Allan, Clara Chong and Catherine Waldby were able to put the new tools and techniques into context that connected relevantly to each of the school’s Masters disciplines (Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Production Design, Editing, Sound Design, Music & Documentary).
Special emphasis was placed on the skills that the students would be able to bring from their previous professional experience and studies working with traditional formats to this new medium and where the rules, structure and methodology needed to be adjusted for AIV and ASAF.
Incorporating both lectures and workshops, the program has set a world standard for higher education in these new formats. This ongoing project will continue to break new ground in teaching, the complexities of creating for this technology, at the prestige, professional level.
