Ben Allan ACS CSI became the youngest person to be awarded the ACS letters by the Australian Cinematographers Society in 2002 and is the first accredited cinematographer in the world ever to be awarded the CSI letters as a colorist by the Colorist Society International.
Among his many awards are the coveted Ross Wood Memorial Award, a Content Technology Award and cinematography awards at numerous film festivals around the world. His work has screened in official selection at the Sydney, Melbourne, Cannes and Hollywood Film Festivals.
He has over 1,500 TV Commercial credits, and decades of experience in feature films, TV drama, documentaries both behind the lens and in all aspects of post production. In 2001, with the help of Panavision, he designed the first digital LOG gamma curves, a feature now built into every professional camera.
He pioneered desktop colour grading in 2005 with his award winning software The Grading Sweet.
Ben is a former editor of the professional journal Australian Cinematographer and has been a member of the ACS since 1996 serving in numerous capacities including as a member of the Tech Committee for over a decade and as National Secretary of the society.
He has been producing professionally since 1995 and currently has a slate of projects in development through Main Course Films. Since 2019 he has been the host of The T Stop Inn podcast.
